POLO!

Two Trees Farm at 849 Hayground Road, Bridgehampton

Mother Nature's record-breaking wrath of heat and humidity did not befall the Bridgehampton Polo Club's signature event, this weekend. Yes it was hot and as a result, the 2011 Bridgehampton Polo Challenge began an hour late, as social needs were foregone for equestrian safety.  However, droves of families, tailgaters, notables and athletes took to the fields.

Polo is as much a family outting at a refined sporting event, as it is a social gathering.

Beautiful people casually soak up sun and champagne along the sidelines, while children are allowed to frolic on the field, before the match!

The event runs every Saturday, through August 27.  General Admission parking is the only fee, at a whopping $20.

Two notes on Two Trees Farm

When spyehampton asked Sir Ivan what he thought of the Polo Challenge he replied simply, "Loved it"

Nacho Figueras is still riding like a champion

Beat the heat at the Boathouse!

With the city heat indexes rivaling equity indexes, this weekend should take you out east again.  Far out, to the Boathouse Restaurant on 3-mile Harbor (it's worth the scenic ride).

spye hampton arrived at around 3pm on Tuesday to catch the tail-end of a bartending competition.

Situated on 3-Mile Harbor, in East Hampton, the Boathouse brings a laid-back atmosphere to the shore of a stunning backdrop.

While dining on...

Bistro Salad--a medley of pears, bleu cheese, honey roasted walnuts on a bed of mixed greens
Shrimp Salad--Meaty shrimp, green beans, bacon, onion and tomato (a hearty salad, sans greens)
a succulent Lobster, Scallop, Shrimp Quesadilla
and the sweet, yet zesty Fish Tacos (dashed with a complexity of spices)

...we were drawn to the picturesque view of Three Mile Harbor.  While the bar crowd, including Michael Gluckman and Mark Anthony, prepared for a lively evening, it felt as if we could reach across the table and touch the nearby beachgrass-clad islands.

Unlike Boathouse' neighbor, East Hampton Point, seating is one-size-fits-all (same menu inside/outside).  This fosters a beach-bum aesthetic vs. a tier-level seating and dining experience.

If you need to chow down while immersed in a stunning facade, or a weekend divorce from Manhattan, let the Boathouse and their casual ambiance serve up the fare!

Stay tuned for a profile of Boathouse' sister restaurant, The Beachhouse!

The Bentley's Colorful New Poolside Edge

The aftermath of Saturday's noontime banger at the Bentley, left their poolside walls with an Avant-garde aesthetic. Graffiti gurus brought the dated and drab walls surrounding the pool to a new level of motif and meaning--a Hamptons first!

This Southampton hotel's party brought artisans, beach bums as well as refined hamptonites to a collaborative consciousness of art and partying. Socialites sipped tonics on the poolside deck, while their festive and fastidiuous vibe was permanently spray-painted on to this established Hamptons hotel.

In other news, Dune/Axe Lounge has (seemingly) locked down Lee Kalt as a Friday night staple. Considering his success last Sunday, as well as previous sets spun at the epic Lily Pond (now SL East), where he dropped his single "Kiss & Fly," Dune/Axe Lounge has installed a gamechanger.

If you don't believe me, check out Lee's set, "Live at Lily Pond" to hear his Hamptons groove! I suppose he's going to have to one-up this phenomenal set with a "Live at Dune/Axe Lounge" ???  *fingers-crossed*

(Our rumor mill also has Lee coming to Georgica at the end of this month!)

Noontime Party!

If you're still awake and reading this at 5am, you probably won't make it to today's hottest noontime party.  Nevertheless, promoters, locals and hoteliers have confirmed a bash at The Bentley Hotel, at 12pm.

Rumors of slip-and-slides, greased with sponsored spirits and fourtuitous funds, mean this party may even attract a few celebs.  The best part is, whatever happens poolside or slip-and-slide side this afternoon will be low key enough to stay off Page Six!

On another note, the foul weather did not keep most diners home.  While many nightclubs weathered a slow post-July-4th squall, Southampton restaurants were jammin.  Hamptonites hopped from Trata, Savannas, 75-Main and Nobu, like Salientia skipping from lily pad to soaked lily pad, in the pond that submerged Southampton.

When it was all said and done, this evening's hottest party was (once again) at Nobu.  A very tall and slender VIP couple, commingled with Hamptons magazine and a large jewelry chain, to fish a sloppy evening out of the water.  Tents shielded the cocktail party from the downpour, as the incoming crowd supplanted their Ferraris with Bentleys and SUVs.

Cheers to a sunny and safe Saturday!

Thursday night update

Spye'd a jammin industry night at SL East, around 12:30am.

Also got wind of an exclusive day party, commencing at 12pm on Saturday.  More info to follow ;-)

Only on the Fourth of July...

...would this flat tire not deflate the mood of the beachgoers of Southampton.

spye hampton extends a thank you to all our readers and revelers.

Have a great week, everyone!

Happy 4th of July!

What can we say?

Trata was jammed

Nobu and the Bathing Club posted a steady night, and attracted some classy glam at the front door.  DJ Chrissie Miller's 9pm set brought classic tunes to an inventive and invigorating new height!

And, as spye hampton predicted, Lee Kalt's stylish spinning--a byproduct of his wordly musical ear and fortitude for working a room of elites--drew RECORD crowds to Dune/Axe Lounge.

Amazing that the elite crowds mustered this kind of energy after Sir Ivan's hyper-exclusive bash, this afternoon.

The lines were also out the door at SL East and Georgica, so there's a very distinct possibility that said venues went LATE NIGHT.

What else can we say, other than have a happy and safe 4th of July!

DJ Chrissie Miller will be at the Bathing Club @ the Capri

Tonight, around 9pm.

Where is the top late-night spot for 30-somethings, for tonight?

Posit: Late-night partying in the Hamptons begins at 2am.

Premise: Most Southampton venues wind-down at 1:30am, excluding Dune/Axe Lounge and South Pointe, who typically caters to a younger crowd.

Conclusion:  Georgica and SL East, both in East Hampton.

Plan A:  Grab drinks at Nobu's contemporary and stylish outdoor bar, proceed east to dine at Trata, or many of Bridgehampton's extravagant restaurants (Bobby Van's, Pierre's, etc.).  Further east, to Georgica/SL East.  Arrange transportation in advance

Plan B:  Drinks at Southampton Social Club.  http://www.southamptonsocialclub.com/  Dinner at Nobu (literally 3 minutes away), and once again eastbound to Georgica

http://www.georgicarestaurant.com/ordereze/Gallery/4/Photos.aspx

and/or, further eastbound to SL East http://sleast.com/

Caveat:  One of the best DJs is spinning, starting at 10pm, at Dune/Axe Lounge, located on North Sea Road, in Southampton.

Either way, hit the ATM, find a designated driver and gear up for partying into July 4th, 2011!!!

The Capri is crackin! (as is Trata)

NBA Allstar, Chris Bosh dined at Nobu at the Capri and paused, upon exiting, for a brief photo-op.  Not the first time we've seen Chris Bosh in the Hamptons.

DJ Mia Moretti plugged in for a reserved, yet remarkably well programmed and mixed set, at the pastel-primped Bathing Club.

Richie Notar, casually carousing with some diners, at the Nobu door.

The Aston Martin Rapide fleet, being dispatched with the aforementioned military-like precision...what fortunate guests and fortunate supercars, given the privelege of teleporting refined and trendy clientele, from one venue, to another!

Incidentally, Trata was way on the map tonight, boasting over 500 seated.

Enjoy your July 2nd!

Livery service to the EXTREME!

The CAPRI Hotel has leased four, count em, FOUR Aston Martins to chauffeur their fabulous guests around the Hamptons.  In a display of class (and marketing) these swanky rides will be seen zipping around Southampton, Bridgehampton and East Hampton, with military-like precision.

...incidentally, these were not the only pieces of steel spyed at Capri/Nobu last night ;-)
